Who This Role Sells To

The Business Development Manager will call on and build relationships with decision makers across industrial and project-based organizations, including:

  • Manufacturing plants

  • Food and beverage production facilities

  • Chemical and processing plants

  • Industrial facilities and refineries

  • Data centers and industrial infrastructure projects

  • General contractors supporting industrial construction

  • Developers and owners overseeing industrial buildouts and retrofits

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities within industrial automation and electrical project services

  • Conduct on-site prospecting at plants, facilities, and job sites

  • Build relationships with industrial decision makers and stakeholders

  • Identify project opportunities and coordinate technical discussions with engineering and operations teams

  • Represent industrial automation, electrical construction, and controls capabilities clearly and professionally

  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified industrial opportunities

  • Track sales activity, relationships, and pipeline using a CRM or structured tracking system


Performance Expectations

Success in this role includes:

  • Building a consistent pipeline of qualified industrial automation and electrical projects

  • Generating new opportunities through proactive field engagement

  • Contributing to project wins ranging from $50K to $100K jobs up to $300K to $1.5M and larger industrial projects

  • Driving measurable revenue growth through relationship-based selling


Compensation and Earnings Potential

  • W2 position

  • Base salary typically between $80,000 and $100,000, depending on experience

  • Commission paid per project, historically ranging from 3 percent to 7 percent based on project size

  • High-performers can earn $150,000 to $200,000 or more annually

Health insurance is not currently offered, but the client is open to solutions for the right candidate.


Work Environment and Travel

  • Hybrid role with a strong emphasis on field work

  • Expect 70 to 80 percent of time spent in the field visiting industrial facilities and clients

  • Initial focus on the DFW area, with expansion into Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Houston markets

  • Limited office time, primarily for coordination and accountability


Required Background and Qualifications

  • Prior sales experience in industrial automation, electrical construction, controls, instrumentation, or industrial project services

  • Experience selling into manufacturing, industrial, or plant environments

  • Ability to discuss industrial project scope and terminology confidently

  • Strong relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders

  • Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable working independently

  • CRM experience preferred or willingness to adopt CRM tools
