The Opportunity
Our client is an established industrial saw blade sharpening, sales, and repair business serving manufacturers, sawmills, and pallet and lumber operations across central Pennsylvania and the broader Mid-Atlantic region. The company specializes in custom-engineered cut-off saw blades, gangsaw blades, and sizer knives for high-volume wood processing operations, primarily in the pallet manufacturing industry.
The business is under new ownership focused on long-term growth and reinvestment. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the owner, with a clear path into sales leadership as the company scales. The Role
This is a relationship-driven, technical sales position for someone who wants to own a territory, build something meaningful, and grow with a company that has a stable, essential-industry customer base. The right candidate will manage and grow existing accounts while identifying and developing new business opportunities within the pallet manufacturing, sawmill, and light industrial sectors.
The role is primarily based in central Pennsylvania, with modest travel under 20% to visit customer sites, attend industry trade shows, and build relationships with machine manufacturers and distributors. It reports directly to ownership and carries a clear path into sales leadership as the company scales.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage and grow relationships with existing customer accounts, ensuring consistent communication, timely fulfillment, and high retention
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the pallet manufacturing, sawmill, and light industrial sectors
- Learn the core product lines well enough to discuss technical specifications, machine compatibility, and troubleshooting with plant managers and maintenance leads
- Conduct outbound prospecting through calls, emails, and in-person visits to build a pipeline of new accounts
- Represent the company at industry trade shows and build relationships with machine manufacturers and distributors as a channel for referral business
- Prepare and follow up on quotes, proposals, and account reviews
- Travel periodically, under 20% of time, to visit customer sites and attend industry events
- Work closely with ownership and operations to ensure customer commitments are met and service quality is maintained
Who Will Succeed in This Role
This is a role for a candidate who can run independently, build trust with plant managers and maintenance leads, and grow into a sales leader as the business scales. The right person treats the territory like an owner, not a vendor.
The strongest candidates bring:
- 3 or more years of B2B sales or account management experience, ideally in industrial supply, manufacturing, cutting tools, or a related technical or equipment-driven industry
- Prior experience in saw blade sales, service, or pallet and lumber manufacturing is strongly preferred
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to develop trust with plant managers, owners, and maintenance personnel
- Self-starter who can manage a pipeline independently with minimal day-to-day oversight
- Based in or willing to relocate to the central Pennsylvania area
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally as needed
Candidates with a plant-based background who are ready to move into an outbound sales role and who understand the product environment are also considered.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $70,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience
- Commission structure: Paid on new client sales with tiered increases as performance grows
- Year 1 OTE potential: $130,000 or more for candidates who engage the territory actively
- Car allowance provided
