Outside Sales Representative, Rigging and Overhead Crane
An established Orlando territory already running roughly $150,000 per month with no dedicated rep on it, three percent uncapped commission on everything you invoice, and a take-home truck you can drive on nights and weekends.
The Opportunity
Our client is a rigging and overhead crane company serving industrial customers across Florida. They supply below-the-hook lifting products and slings in synthetic, chain, and wire rope, and they handle full overhead crane installation, service, and inspection. This seat owns the Orlando market: the existing customer base, the new business in front of it, and the relationships that decide where the next lifting order goes.
The territory is not a startup. Orlando has produced roughly $150,000 per month over the past two months with no dedicated representative working it, covered by a branch manager who is already at capacity. The mix is close to an even split, roughly half account management on established customers and roughly half new business development into plants, fabricators, contractors, and maintenance teams that are not buying from them yet.
The sales motion is field first and technical. You are on site with the customer, looking at the lift, the hook, the span, and the application, then gathering the details and handing them to inside sales for pricing, sourcing, and lead time. This is a true outside sales representative role with real territory ownership, not a desk seat with a drive-time component.
Why This Role
Commission Starts Immediately
The Orlando territory has been running roughly $150,000 per month without a dedicated rep. You are paid on all invoiced revenue, existing and new, so the book pays you from your first month rather than after a year of building.
Three Percent of Everything You Invoice
Three percent of invoiced sales, new and existing, with no cap and no separate quota gate. The top producer on the team runs roughly $380,000 to $400,000 per month in volume and earns about $12,000 per month in commission.
Take-Home Truck, Personal Use Approved
Unbranded take-home truck, and not a stripped base model; the Orlando vehicle is a leather crew cab. Personal use on nights and weekends is approved and you cover gas. Worth roughly $12,000 to $15,000 a year on top of cash comp.
Inside Sales Does the Pricing
You gather the RFQ in the field. Inside sales prices it, sources it, and sets the lead time, then hands it back to you. You deliver it and stay the face of the account. Your evenings are not spent building quotes.
Solve Lifting Problems On Site
Below-the-hook products, slings, crane service, and inspection are consultative sales. Customers bring you a lifting problem and you work the solution with them in front of the equipment. Application knowledge, not price sheets, wins the order here.
Orlando Is Yours to Build
One rep, one market, clear line of sight to what you produced. Florida is the company's core market with additional coverage into South Georgia and South Carolina, and Orlando is a growth priority rather than a maintenance account.
What You Will Do
- Own the Orlando territory end to end, managing established accounts while opening new industrial customers
- Call on plants, fabricators, contractors, and maintenance and reliability teams to uncover lifting, rigging, and overhead crane needs
- Assess applications on site and recommend the right below-the-hook product, sling, or crane solution
- Gather RFQ details in the field and submit them to inside sales for pricing, sourcing, and lead time
- Deliver the quote to the customer and remain the primary point of contact through the order
- Coordinate crane installation, service, and inspection work with the operations team
- Track calls, customer visits, and territory activity in the company CRM
- Grow Orlando revenue above the current monthly run rate
Who We Are Looking For
The product line and the sales formula are trainable. Character, diligence, and ownership are not, and that is the profile this search is built around.
- Outside B2B sales experience calling on industrial, manufacturing, construction, or contractor accounts
- Hunter mentality: comfortable prospecting cold accounts, not an order taker waiting on inbound
- Technically minded, able to visualize a lifting or material handling problem and work the solution with a customer in the field
- Demonstrated tenure, with meaningful time in prior roles rather than a pattern of one-year stops
- Self-managed on calendar, activity, and number without daily supervision
- Based in the Orlando market or relocating to it
- Experience with rigging, below-the-hook lifting products, slings, overhead crane, or crane service and inspection
- Familiarity selling to plant managers, maintenance managers, and MRO buyers
- Comfort logging activity consistently in a CRM
- Industrial supply and MRO distribution
- Material handling equipment and systems
- Equipment rental
- General industrial and capital equipment sales
- Trades, operations, or small business owners who moved into a selling role and carried the same work ethic into it
Direct rigging and crane experience is a plus, not a gate. Some of the strongest producers on this team arrived without a formal sales title and won on character, curiosity, and follow-through. If you sell technical products to industrial buyers and you own your territory like it is your business, your background likely transfers.
Compensation and Benefits
- Structure: Base salary plus three percent of invoiced sales on all revenue, new and existing, with no cap. The top producer on the team earns roughly $12,000 per month in commission
- Vehicle: Take-home company truck, unbranded, personal use on nights and weekends approved, representative covers gas. Not a base model; the Orlando truck is a leather crew cab. Worth roughly $12,000 to $15,000 per year
- Support: Inside sales handles pricing, sourcing, and lead times so your selling time stays in front of customers
- Benefits: Full benefits package, reviewed in detail during the interview process
Location and Schedule
This is a field-based role covering the Orlando market. You work from your truck and from customer sites, not from a desk, and your week is built around plant visits, job site walks, and follow-up on open quotes. The company operates from multiple Florida locations with an Orlando presence supporting service, inspection, and installation work in the territory.
On site with plants, fabricators, contractors, and maintenance teams, walking applications and identifying lifting needs.
Submitting RFQ details to inside sales, then delivering pricing and lead times back to the customer and closing the order.
Working with operations on crane installation, service calls, and inspection scheduling so commitments to your accounts are met.
